Maldives Gas to Reduce Cylinder Fill Amounts from November 7
Business ·
Maldives Gas has announced that temporary changes will be made to the amount of cooking gas dispensed into cylinders, effective from November 7.
Under the change, the amount previously dispensed into a 10-kilogram gas cylinder will be reduced to 7 kilograms. The amount dispensed into a 22-kilogram cylinder will be reduced to 14 kilograms, and into a 45-kilogram cylinder to 31 kilograms.
Maldives Gas stated that the price of gas will not increase with these changes, and money will continue to be collected from the public as before, based on the weight of the gas put into the cylinder at the currently established rate per kilogram.
According to the company, the changes are being introduced due to rising global gas prices and difficulties encountered in importing gas to the country, in order to continue providing the service without interruption.
Maldives Gas also said efforts to increase the country's gas storage capacity are ongoing, and that once the project is completed, gas for three months can be stored at once, providing a permanent solution to the matter.
The company apologized for any difficulties customers may face due to the changes.
