Maldives Gas to Reduce Gas Filled into Cylinders Starting Next Friday

Economy ·
Maldives Gas has announced a temporary reduction in the amount of gas filled into cylinders, starting from next Friday. The decision was made due to a rise in global market prices for household gas and difficulties encountered in importing gas into the country. The company stated that this temporary measure is intended to control gas sales. Under the new measure, standard 10-kilogram cylinders used for household stoves will now receive only 7 kilograms of gas. Similarly, 22-kilogram cylinders will be filled with 14 kilograms, while large 45-kilogram cylinders, typically used by businesses, will receive 31 kilograms of gas. Despite the reduction in the amount of gas filled, Maldives Gas assured customers that there will be no significant increase in the price of gas. The company stated that customers will continue to be charged at the currently established rates based on the actual weight of the gas filled into the cylinder. To find a permanent solution to this issue, Maldives Gas highlighted that efforts to increase the country's gas storage capacity are currently underway. The company stated that once the project is fully completed, it will be able to store three months' worth of the country's gas requirements at once. This, the company said, will provide a complete and permanent solution to fluctuations in the international market and difficulties encountered during imports.
