Maldives Government Seeks Architect for Modern Islamic Complex Design

The Maldives government has announced a call for architects to design a modern Islamic complex in Male’. The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has issued a notice seeking professionals capable of conceptualizing and executing the design for this significant project. The complex will serve as a hub for Islamic activities and will include advanced facilities, technical specifications, and bio-engineering elements. The government aims to enhance Islamic infrastructure across the Maldives, with recent renovations already underway at the Darul Arqam and Darus Salam complexes. Additionally, plans are in place to establish a special Quranic complex in Male’. The initiative is part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s vision to bolster Islamic institutions and increase funding for Islamic causes. The project will also include affordable housing provisions, with 20% of the units allocated to local households and 80% contributing to the Islamic Waqf Fund. This development aligns with broader efforts to modernize Islamic infrastructure and foster community development across the Maldives.
