Maldives Hajj Mission Departs for Saudi Arabia to Finalize Pilgrim Logistics

A 10-member Maldivian Hajj Mission has departed for Saudi Arabia to finalize essential preparations ahead of the upcoming pilgrimage. The team's primary objective is to ensure all logistics meet the rigorous standards set by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj before pilgrims begin their journey. The mission will conduct comprehensive inspections of critical services, including accommodation in Mecca, transportation networks, and food supply chains. Additionally, the team will verify that healthcare services are fully operational and capable of supporting the needs of the Maldivian contingent during the pilgrimage rituals. Sheikh Imthithau Abbas, the Director General of Maldives Zakat House, has been appointed to lead the pilgrims’ affairs office in Mecca. This office serves as the central hub for the annual Hajj Mission, overseeing the daily needs and administrative arrangements for all Maldivian citizens participating in the pilgrimage. Providing spiritual guidance for the journey, Dr. Ilyas Hussain of the Supreme Council for Fatwa will serve as the lead Sheikh for the pilgrims this year. To ensure the community remains informed, the mission also includes experienced journalist Aminath Shaziya, who will provide on-the-ground reporting from Mecca. These preliminary preparations are critical as the first group of Maldivian pilgrims is scheduled to depart on May 15. The mission's early arrival ensures that any logistical gaps are addressed, allowing pilgrims to focus entirely on their religious obligations without administrative hurdles.
