Maldives Hajj Mission Partners With Saudi Arabia to Enhance Pilgrim Services

The Maldives Hajj Mission has held high-level talks with Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Jeddah to refine the experience and support systems for Maldivian pilgrims. The meeting focused on identifying existing logistical challenges and implementing strategic improvements to ensure a smoother pilgrimage process.
Led by Sheikh Imthithaau Abbas, the Head of the Maldives Hajj Office in Mecca, the delegation met with the Director General and the designated representative for Maldivian Hajj affairs. The discussions served as a platform to reinforce the strong diplomatic ties between the governments of the Maldives and Saudi Arabia while focusing on the practical needs of those performing the Hajj.
During the session, the Maldives delegation outlined specific hurdles currently faced by pilgrims. These discussions aimed to streamline arrangements and elevate the quality of services provided during one of the most significant spiritual journeys in a Muslim's life.
As the primary authority governing the pilgrimage, Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah is responsible for coordinating global arrangements and regulating the activities of foreign delegations. The Ministry has recently shifted toward a heavy emphasis on digitalization to modernize the pilgrimage experience.
Central to these improvements is a dedicated digital platform that now manages Hajj-related services. This technological transition is designed to increase operational efficiency and accelerate the delivery of essential services to participating nations. Alongside these digital advancements, the Ministry has introduced reinforced safety and security measures to protect the millions of pilgrims arriving from across the globe.
By collaborating closely with the Saudi authorities, the Maldives Hajj Mission aims to leverage these new digital tools and security protocols to provide Maldivian pilgrims with a safer, more efficient, and spiritually rewarding experience.
