Maldives Met Office Issues Yellow Alert for Heavy Rain from Kaafu to Meemu Atolls

The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has issued a yellow weather alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms across the central atolls, from Kaafu Atoll to Meemu Atoll. The alert comes into effect at 21:30 tonight and remains in place until 06:00 tomorrow morning. According to the Met Office, the affected areas can expect heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, with wind speeds reaching up to 45 miles per hour in squalls. Seas are forecast to be rough, with wave heights between four and seven feet. In the past 24 hours, Male' and Hulhulé recorded 90 millimetres of rain. The Met Office has urged the public and all relevant parties to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
