Maldives Moves to Criminalize Gambling and Gambling Facilities

The Maldives blocked betting websites last year, but legal loopholes have made it difficult for law enforcement to tackle gambling activities, particularly through online platforms. The move comes amid growing concerns over the rise in gambling-related activities. The Parliament, currently in recess, will reopen in February to deliberate on the proposed amendments.
