Maldives National Anti-Doping Agency gazettes new Anti-Doping Code, effective January 1

Sports ·
The Maldives National Anti-Doping Agency (MADA) has officially gazetted the Maldives National Anti-Doping Code, with implementation set to begin on January 1 next year. Under the new code, the burden of proof in any doping allegation against an athlete rests with MADA. The code also outlines penalties for athletes found guilty of doping offenses, as well as measures that can be taken against their teams. All athletes in the country are required to comply with the code, including providing samples for testing when requested by MADA, taking responsibility for substances and items they use, and attending compliance programs. MADA was established under the First Amendment Bill to the Sports Act of the Republic of Maldives, approved by President Muizzu on May 19 last year, to ensure equality in the sports sector. The agency operates under the Sports Ministry.
