World ·
The Maldivian Government's National Service programme has surpassed its first-year training goals, with 1,028 young people completing the initiative since its launch on October 1 last year. Speaking at the graduation ceremony for the second batch of the National Service Technical Training programme, Minister of Defence and National Service Hassan Rasheed confirmed that the program has exceeded the initial target of 1,000 students set by President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. Minister Rasheed emphasized that transforming youth into disciplined and responsible citizens is a cornerstone of the current administration's priorities. He noted that the initiative serves as a critical shield for young people, steering them away from undesirable influences and providing a structured path toward personal and professional development. According to the Minister, the public has widely embraced the program, reflecting a collective desire to protect the youth and foster a sense of civic duty. The technical training component specifically aims to equip participants with practical skills that can be applied directly to their daily lives and future careers. During his address to the graduates, Minister Rasheed highlighted that technical proficiency must be paired with mental fortitude. He advised the participants that success in any field requires a combination of courage, hard work, and determination. Concluding his remarks, the Minister urged the new graduates to remain resilient and patient when facing challenges, stressing that the discipline learned during their training is essential for navigating the complexities of adult life and contributing meaningfully to Maldivian society.
