Maldives Opens Sale of 48 State-Acquired Land Plots Under Veshi Fahi Male Programme at MVR 2,000 Per Sq Ft
Local News ·
The Ministry of Housing has announced the opening of applications for the purchase of 48 plots of land acquired by the state under the Veshi Fahi Male Programme. The plots are being sold at a rate of MVR 2,000 per square foot.
The available plots are distributed across several areas: 21 plots in Maafannu, 10 plots in Maathange, 9 plots in Henveiru, 7 plots in Gaalolu, and one plot in Vilimale. Only owners of the courtyards where these plots are located and owners of adjacent courtyards are eligible to apply. These plots were originally small parcels given in exchange for flats or courtyards under the 2011 Veshi Fahi Male Programme, which were later relinquished to the state.
The Ministry stated that the sale will be conducted according to the "Rules regarding the Sale of Land Acquired by the State Under the Veshi Fahi Male Programme," published in the Gazette on June 28, 2021.
Interested parties can submit application forms starting next Friday, with all required documents due by 14:00 on December 2nd. The Veshi Fahi Male Programme was an initiative aimed at reducing overcrowding in Malé by providing land or flats from other areas to owners of small, difficult-to-live-in courtyards in exchange for acquiring their small plots of land.
