Maldives Partners With Indian Star Badshah to Boost Luxury Tourism Appeal

The Maldives has concluded a high-profile tourism campaign aimed at the Indian market, featuring internationally renowned musician and television personality Badshah. The four-day visit, organized under the Visit Maldives Corporation's (VMC) Cultural Ambassador programme, sought to leverage the star's massive influence to attract a new wave of Indian travelers.
Hosted by Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa, the initiative focused on connecting one of South Asia's most influential entertainers with the archipelago's luxury offerings. During his stay, Badshah experienced the country's signature hospitality, participating in water sports, luxury yacht excursions, and immersive cultural activities designed to showcase the destination's versatility.
Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and Managing Director of VMC, emphasized that the partnership is a strategic investment in strengthening ties with India. He noted that the campaign aims to remind Indian travelers that the Maldives is not only a nearby and easily accessible destination but also one that offers a diverse range of unique experiences.
To maximize reach, the campaign produced a series of Instagram Reels and YouTube vlogs. This digital content, set to be released on Badshah's social media platforms in the coming weeks, is expected to reinforce the Maldives' reputation as a premier destination for luxury travel, honeymoons, and family vacations.
India continues to be a cornerstone of the Maldivian tourism economy. After serving as the country's largest source market from 2020 to 2022, India accounted for 209,193 tourist arrivals in 2023, representing 11.1 percent of all visitors. The trend continues into 2024, with 68,933 Indian tourists visiting the islands as of July 19.
