Maldives Police and IOM Partner to Strengthen Human Trafficking Investigations

The Maldives Police Service and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) have held high-level discussions aimed at enhancing the investigation and prevention of human trafficking within the archipelago. Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed met with Kristin Parco, the IOM Chief of Mission to the Maldives and Sri Lanka, at the Shaheed Hussain Adam Building. The meeting centered on creating a more robust framework to dismantle trafficking networks and secure the nation's borders against related criminal activities. A primary focus of the dialogue was the improvement of identification systems. Both parties emphasized the need for more effective methods to recognize and rescue victims of trafficking, ensuring that those exploited by these crimes receive the necessary protection and legal support.
