The Maldives Police Service (MPS) commemorated its 93rd anniversary on Tuesday with flag hoisting ceremonies at police stations across the nation.
The main ceremony was held at the MPS headquarters, the Shaheed Hussain Adam Building in Malé. Minister of Homeland Security and Technology Ali Ihusaan and Deputy Commissioner of Police Farhad Fikry attended, alongside executive and commissioned officers and members of the public. Following the flag raising, police officials recited their oath and a special prayer was offered for the institution.
A solemn moment during the Malé event was the signing of a book of condolences. Tributes were paid to retired Deputy Commissioner of Police Abdul Shukoor Abdulla, who served for 43 years, and former Counsel General Hassan Hameed, who served for 35 years. Minister Ihusaan and Deputy Commissioner Fikry were among the senior officers who signed the book.
Similar ceremonies were held concurrently on islands nationwide where police stations are established. Local government officials and senior island representatives joined police personnel in these events, underscoring the service's nationwide presence as it enters its 94th year of operation.
