Public Service Media (PSM) has secured Maldives Post as the main sponsor for its upcoming coverage of the FIFA World Cup 2026. The partnership was formalized during a signing ceremony at the PSM Television Building, marking a significant step in bringing the global sporting event to Maldivian audiences. Managing Director Ahmed Shakeeb signed on behalf of PSM, while Deputy Managing Director Shaheed Ibrahim signed for Maldives Post. In addition to the primary sponsorship, PSM has appointed Allied Insurance and Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) as co-sponsors. The agreements were signed by Chief Underwriting Officer Iuliana Rusei of Allied Insurance and CEO Captain Hussain Shafeeq of MPL. Further expanding its support network, PSM signed coverage partnerships with five other organizations: Villa College, Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), Island Perfumes, Eeezap, and Proxy. These partnerships aim to bolster the logistical and promotional reach of the tournament's broadcasts across the archipelago. The FIFA World Cup 2026, hosted jointly by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, will be the largest in history, featuring 48 national teams. For the first time, Maldivians will be able to watch the tournament entirely free of charge. Through a strategic collaboration between PSM and Medianet, viewers with a Medianet connection will have complimentary access to the broadcasts. PSM officially launched its coverage plans on May 18, emphasizing a goal to replicate the tournament's electric atmosphere nationwide. The broadcaster intends to deploy a comprehensive multi-platform strategy, utilizing television, digital streams, and the installation of large public viewing screens across various islands to ensure football fans throughout the Maldives have a memorable viewing experience.
