Politics ·
The Maldives government has reopened the bidding process for its long-delayed helicopter service project after making amendments to the original terms. The Transport Ministry issued a new notice on Wednesday, inviting proposals for establishing and operating commercial helicopter services. The project aims to provide efficient passenger transportation for tourists, emergency medical evacuations, and search and rescue operations across the country. The winning bidder will be granted an exclusive 10-year agreement, with the operator also required to support government emergency services. Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen had previously announced the service would launch by March 2024, but it has been delayed by nine months. The deadline for submission is January 25, 2024, with proposals to be sent to specialprojects@transport.gov.mv.
