Maldives Sees Surge in Tourist Arrivals with 99,000 Visitors in First 14 Days of 2026

The Ministry of Tourism has announced a significant increase in tourist arrivals to the Maldives, with 99,350 visitors recorded in the first 14 days of 2026. This marks a 9.6% rise compared to the same period last year, which saw 90,659 arrivals. The highest number of tourists arrived on 11 January, with 9,596 visitors. Russia has emerged as the leading source market, accounting for 16,868 tourists, followed by Italy with 11,987, the United Kingdom with 8,159, Germany with 6,245, and China with 5,404. On average, 7,096 tourists are visiting the Maldives daily, with most opting for resort stays. The country welcomed a record 2.2 million tourists in 2025.
