Maldives Targets Middle East Growth With Major Push at Arabian Travel Market
World ·
The Maldives has launched an ambitious promotional campaign at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) in Dubai, aiming to solidify its footprint in one of the world's most lucrative tourism regions. Organized by the Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC), the initiative brings together a massive delegation of 165 industry professionals representing 74 leading travel and tourism companies.
Running until September 17 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the event serves as a critical hub for high-level Business-to-Business (B2B) networking. VMC has prioritized the formation of strategic alliances, with landmark agreements slated for signing with global aviation and travel giants, including Emirates, Qatar Airways, and dnata, the Middle East's largest travel services provider.
To facilitate these high-stakes negotiations, the Maldives has deployed a massive 517-square-foot double-deck pavilion. The structure is engineered for maximum efficiency, featuring 49 co-exhibitor counters and 52 dedicated B2B meeting tables. VMC officials believe this structured approach to networking will translate into measurable growth for the nation's tourism sector.
Beyond the boardroom, the pavilion is designed as a sensory immersion into the Maldivian archipelago. The architectural theme mimics the country's underwater ecosystems, utilizing ocean-blue lighting and sand-colored tones to give visitors the impression of stepping into a turquoise lagoon. The experience is enhanced by 3D models of marine life and interactive digital screens, creating a vivid representation of the islands' biodiversity.
Complementing the visual display is a focus on authentic cultural exchange. A dedicated culinary stall is introducing international visitors to traditional Maldivian flavors, offering local delicacies such as theluli babukeyo (fried breadfruit) and kulhi roshi (spicy flatbread). By blending strategic corporate diplomacy with cultural storytelling, the Maldives seeks to attract a diverse range of high-net-worth travelers from the Middle East.
