The 'Ceylon Aa Eku Dhivehin' telethon has raised USD 800,352 for victims of Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka. The collaborative effort between Public Service Media (PSM) and nearly 40 local media outlets concluded with the official handover of proceeds to the Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs. At a ceremony held at the PSM studio on Monday, PSM Deputy Managing Director Abdulla Yameen Rasheed presented the funds to Foreign Minister Dr Abdulla Khaleel. Minister Khaleel confirmed the financial aid would be dispatched to the Sri Lankan government later Tuesday. The foreign minister praised the joint initiative, emphasizing its significant role in strengthening fraternal bonds between the Maldives and Sri Lanka. The 29-hour telethon ran from 9:00 am on November 30 through 2:00 pm on December 1, mobilizing support from across the Maldivian community. Crowe Maldives served as the official audit partner, working closely with PSM from the telethon's inception to its conclusion. The firm conducted meticulous counting of funds after the fundraising deadline concluded. PSM extended sincere gratitude to all participants and contributors who supported the humanitarian effort. The substantial donation demonstrates the Maldives' commitment to regional solidarity during times of crisis.
