A major telethon organized by Maldivian media has raised over $800,000 to support victims of Cyclone Ditwah in Sri Lanka. The 'Ceylon Aa Eku Dhivehin' fundraiser, a joint initiative by Public Service Media (PSM) and nearly 40 local media outlets, concluded with a total of USD 800,352 collected for humanitarian aid. The funds were formally handed over to the Maldivian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday during a ceremony at the PSM studio. PSM Deputy Managing Director Abdulla Yameen Rasheed presented the proceeds to Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel. Minister Khaleel confirmed the aid would be dispatched to the Sri Lankan government on Tuesday. He praised the collaborative effort, highlighting how such initiatives significantly strengthen the longstanding fraternal ties between the Maldives and Sri Lanka. The telethon ran from 9:00 am on November 30th until 2:00 pm on December 1st. Crowe Maldives served as the official audit partner, overseeing the entire process from start to finish, including the meticulous counting of all donations after the fundraising period closed. PSM expressed sincere gratitude to all participants and contributors who played various roles in ensuring the telethon's success, demonstrating the Maldivian community's solidarity with their Sri Lankan neighbors in a time of crisis.
