The Maldives is putting the final touches on preparations to host the 21st Asia Media Summit (AMS), a premier gathering of regional media leaders scheduled for May 11 to 14. The event will take place at the Villa Nautica Resort, bringing together a diverse cohort of media professionals, policymakers, and industry experts from across Asia. Organized annually by the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD), the summit serves as a critical intersection for broadcasters, academics, and practitioners to shape the future of the media landscape. Since its inception in 2004, the AMS has evolved into one of the most significant events in the sector, providing a forum to deliberate on emerging trends and policy directions. This year's summit is centered on the theme “Maldives 2.0: From Tradition to Tech.” The discussions will specifically examine the rapid transformation of communication and media within the digital era, exploring how traditional broadcasting is adapting to new technologies to remain relevant in a fast-paced information economy. Participants will engage in high-level dialogue regarding the challenges and opportunities facing the industry today. By bridging the gap between traditional methods and technological innovation, the summit aims to establish a roadmap for media resilience and growth across the region. The 21st edition marks a return to the region following the 20th summit held in Cambodia. As the flagship event of the AIBD, the summit continues to be a catalyst for cooperation and professional development among Asia-Pacific media entities.
