Maldives to Host Regional Green Economy Forum 2026 to Drive Sustainability

World ·
The Maldives will host the Regional Green Economy Forum 2026 from July 29 to 30, bringing together global leaders to forge a sustainable path for the Asia-Pacific region. Organized by the Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy in partnership with the World Green Economy Organisation (WGEO) and the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), the event will take place at Kurumba Maldives. Under the theme "Shaping a Sustainable and Resilient Future for the Asia-Pacific," the forum aims to establish concrete strategies for environmental resilience. The gathering will convene government officials, international organizations, private sector executives, and environmental specialists to tackle the unique vulnerabilities of coastal economies. Central to the discussions will be the advancement of the Blue Economy Roadmap, emphasizing the sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth. Participants will focus on attracting green investments, strengthening public-private partnerships, and implementing digital and technological solutions to combat climate change. These efforts are specifically designed to support Small Island Developing States (SIDS), which remain on the front lines of the global climate crisis. This upcoming event follows the inaugural forum held last year in Tangier, Morocco, which focused on carbon-neutral cities. By hosting the 2026 edition, the Maldives seeks to help shape regional priorities and build strategic momentum ahead of the World Green Economy Summit and the COP31 climate negotiations. The Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy has officially opened registration for the event. Interested participants can register via a QR code provided on the ministry's official social media platforms.
