Health ·
Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has announced a comprehensive plan to transform healthcare access across the Maldives, with a series of major projects set to launch in 2026. Speaking during the anniversary special program of national radio ‘Dhivehiraajjeyge Adu’, Minister Nazim revealed that next year’s state budget allocates a significant portion to the health sector, prioritizing the expansion and enhancement of services in provincial areas. Key initiatives include upgrading regional hospitals, attracting more doctors and medical specialists, and strengthening healthcare infrastructure to treat a broader range of diseases locally. The plan also focuses on improving healthcare quality in less populated islands by upgrading health centres and introducing new services. Minister Nazim emphasized that these developments align with the government’s manifesto and long-term vision, aiming to improve public well-being and build a healthier, more resilient society.
