The Maldives has secured its status as a global tourism leader, winning the World's Leading Destination award for the sixth consecutive year and the World's Leading Green Destination title for the second time. The honors were announced at the prestigious World Travel Awards ceremony held in Bahrain, reinforcing the island nation's brand strength and environmental commitments. This recognition comes during a record-breaking year for Maldivian tourism. Visitor arrivals exceeded two million earlier than in any previous year, putting the country on a clear path to reach its goal of 2.3 million tourists by 2025. Authorities credit this success to coordinated international marketing campaigns and strategic partnerships that have boosted the Maldives' profile worldwide. Beyond its core leisure appeal, the Maldives received additional regional awards acknowledging its capabilities in meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE), incentive travel in Malé, and digital engagement. The Visit Maldives Corporation stated these achievements result from the collective work of industry partners and local communities, strengthening the nation's position as a premier, year-round destination through sustained promotion.
