Maldivian Increases Weekly Flights to Trivandrum and Cochin to Meet Rising Demand

Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, will increase its flight frequency to Trivandrum and Cochin in India to six days a week starting December 13. This expansion aims to accommodate the growing number of passengers traveling between the Maldives and India. Currently, the airline operates flights to both destinations five days a week—specifically on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. From mid-December, the carrier will add Sunday flights to the schedule, providing nearly daily connectivity to these key Indian hubs. This strategic increase follows a previous schedule adjustment on December 19 last year, which had established the current five-day-a-week rotation. The decision to further expand capacity is driven by a sustained surge in demand, as a significant number of Maldivian citizens continue to travel to India for tourism, healthcare, and other essential services. Ticket bookings for the additional Sunday flights are now open. The expansion is part of the national carrier's broader objective to strengthen its footprint in the South Asian region and enhance international accessibility for Maldivians. Maldivian currently maintains scheduled services to seven international destinations across four countries. This network includes two cities in India, Dhaka in Bangladesh, three cities in China, and Melbourne in Australia. The airline has indicated that it remains committed to further expanding its international reach, exploring new destinations to connect the Maldives with more global markets.
