Maldivian, the national airline, in collaboration with Nila Corals, has introduced an eight-seater King Air 360 branded aircraft dedicated to luxury travel. The addition of this aircraft is expected to provide easier access to resorts for tourists, especially during times when seaplanes do not operate at night, and also opens up opportunities for charter flights. With this addition, the number of aircraft in Maldivian's fleet has grown to 25.
The branded King Air 360 marks the first time the national airline has introduced a high-end luxury travel service. The service will be operated by Maldivian in partnership with Nila Corals. At the fleet addition ceremony, Ali Salim, Deputy Managing Director of Island Aviation Services, highlighted the consistent demand for specialized luxury tourism services when arriving tourists cannot access seaplane services. He stated that the new aircraft would greatly facilitate travel to the Maldives' luxury resorts and allow stakeholders to receive services of the desired standard.
Designed primarily for business and luxury travel with seating for eight passengers, the aircraft is mainly intended for air transfer flights to Nila Coral Island. The airline has also revealed that the public, business companies, and associations can hire the aircraft for charter flights to various parts of the country. The twin-engine turboprop aircraft is popular for its speed, comfort, and spacious cabin. The service is expected to significantly reduce transit time at the airport, allowing travelers to proceed directly to their destination at their desired time.
