Maldivian Parliamentary Delegation Heads to South Africa for Commonwealth Conference

A delegation from the People's Majlis has departed for South Africa to participate in the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC). Hosted by the Parliament of South Africa and the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) South Africa Branch, the event will take place in Cape Town from September 13 to 19. The annual conference serves as a critical forum for parliamentarians and high-ranking officials from across the Commonwealth. The gathering focuses on strengthening parliamentary democracy and improving governance frameworks. Discussions will center on international law and other pressing issues of shared interest among the member states. The Maldivian delegation includes a diverse group of legislators: Dr. Anara Naeem (Huraa), Ahmed Nazim (Dhiggaru), who also serves as the CPA Asia Regional Representative, Ahmed Azaan Marzooq (Central Hithadhoo), and Mohamed Ibrahim (North Galolhu). Supporting the legislative members are key officials from the Parliament Secretariat, including Secretary General Fathimath Niusha and Senior Foreign Relations Officer Aishath Eeman. Their participation underscores the Maldives' commitment to engaging in multilateral dialogue and adopting global best practices in legislative governance.
