A 60-year-old Maldivian pilgrim, Mohamed Imthiyaz from Male’, has passed away after suffering a heart attack during his Umrah pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia. The incident occurred while he was walking between Sara and Marwa, a significant ritual in Umrah. Imthiyaz was part of the Al-Manasik group and had no prior health issues at the time of his death. His funeral was held at the Masjid al-Haram in Mecca after Fajr prayer on Thursday. This tragic event highlights the challenges faced by pilgrims during their spiritual journeys. The Islamic Ministry had previously announced that over 7,700 Maldivians would travel for Umrah during the school holidays. This is not the first instance of Maldivian pilgrims losing their lives during Hajj or Umrah, underscoring the importance of health precautions and support for travelers.
