Finance Minister Hassan Zareer has announced that a project to digitize the traffic system using artificial intelligence (AI) will be included in next year's state budget, aiming to provide a permanent solution to Malé's chronic congestion. Presenting the proposed budget to the People's Majlis, Minister Zareer said maintaining Malé's traffic system at a modern level and resolving major traffic difficulties is a key government goal. Under the project, a 'Smart Traffic Enforcement System' will be established, using AI to monitor compliance with road rules and provide real-time data to reduce congestion. The government described the initiative as an important step to improve quality of life in the capital, where vehicle numbers have made travel increasingly difficult.
