Local News ·
A man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison and fined MVR 75,000 for posting on social media that he was a delivery person, which led to the discovery of a stash of drugs. The Criminal Court sentenced him after he was found guilty of trafficking drugs through a post on a Facebook page. The accused had claimed to be a delivery person on the page 'Raajje Delivery,' which was later linked to drug-related activities. The court was informed that the accused had used the page to facilitate drug transactions and that he was unaware of the drugs found in his possession. The defendant's lawyer argued that the accused was not aware of the drugs and had been framed by others. However, evidence presented in court revealed that the accused had been involved in the trafficking of drugs, leading to his conviction.
