Manchester United suffered a 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in last night's UEFA Champions League match. The game was played at Madrid's Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium in front of more than 69,000 supporters. When United took the field, coach Michael Carrick had made five changes to the team. Despite those changes, the team played well, but they could not break Atletico's strong defensive line. Atletico Madrid scored in the first minute of the match to take the lead, with Pablo Barrios finding the net from a pass by Alex Baena. Although Atletico had scored, Manchester United's Bryan Mbeumo had two good chances to take the lead. In addition, Marcus Rashford had a good chance, but he could not take advantage of it. United's difficulties increased further when, in the 74th minute, the referee showed a red card and sent a United player off for a foul on Jonathan David. As a result, the team played the final 16 minutes with one fewer player. Taking advantage of United having to play with one fewer player, five minutes later Atletico Madrid scored another goal to change the match result to 2-0. Ademola Lookman scored this goal for them.
