In his New Year address, Siyam reflected on the economic challenges of the past year, including rising living costs and a volatile job market. He highlighted the alarming black market dollar rate exceeding MVR 20 and warned of increasing difficulties for civil employment seekers. Siyam called for urgent policy reforms to shield the country from external economic shocks and emphasized the need to uphold constitutional rights for all citizens without discrimination. He also encouraged working-age citizens, especially the youth, to actively contribute to the nation's economy. Siyam concluded his speech with prayers for a prosperous and happy year ahead for the Maldivian people.
