The Ministry of Finance has increased the bid security amount and extended the deadline for submitting bids to construct the mental health hospital in the Maldives, two months after the tender was opened. The 50-bed hospital is being built at government expense. According to an announcement made by the Ministry of Finance on September 23 of last year, a bid security of 864,000 Rufiyaa was required within 148 days. However, in an announcement made today, the Ministry has increased the bid security to 900,000 Rufiyaa. The deadline for bid submission has also been extended from October 25 of last year to 1:00 PM on the 23rd of this month. The registration fee of 1,500 Rufiyaa must be paid through Bandeyripaye, and interested parties are asked to send their information via email along with the payment receipt. President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu revealed during a press conference on April 27 of last year that the government decided to build the hospital using its direct budget after failing to obtain foreign loans. Health Minister Qaila Ali later stated that a 10,000 square foot land area has been identified for the hospital, and noted that it will be located in the Malé area to leverage existing medical resources. The hospital was initially planned for Gaa, Laamu Atoll.
