MFDA to Inspect Home-Based Food Businesses for Safety Compliance

Health ·
The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has announced a special surveillance inspection of homes that produce and sell food commercially, scheduled to take place from November 5 to 20. In a gazette notice issued on October 27, the authority stated that the inspections aim to verify compliance with the standards for operating such businesses. MFDA inspectors will visit registered food preparation sites, and the public can obtain further information by calling hotline numbers 7603204 and 3034221. The move addresses public concerns over hygiene and the condition of home-based food production. The MFDA, an agency under the Ministry of Health, is responsible for ensuring food and drug safety in the Maldives, setting international standard-based regulations, and registering food businesses and home-based producers.
