Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has opened its seventh fish shop in Fuvahmulah City as part of its business expansion efforts. The new outlet, established at the Fuvahmulah Fish Processing Facility near the city's harbour, is the second MIFCO fish shop to open outside the Male' region. Earlier this year, in late May, MIFCO opened a fish shop in Hithadhoo, Addu City. The company also supplies its products through two shops in Male' and three shops in Hulhumale'. The Fuvahmulah shop was officially inaugurated by MIFCO's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Anas, with MIFCO officials and Fuvahmulah residents attending the ceremony. Through the new shop, residents of the island will have uninterrupted access to all MIFCO products at affordable prices. MIFCO said that starting from 1 August 2026, its fish shops are scheduled to open seven days a week, including Fridays at the Fuvahmulah outlet. MIFCO said its goal is to increase productivity and continue providing quality products to the public without interruption, while developing the fisheries sector in line with government policy and increasing benefits for Maldivian fishermen.
