Minister calls for greater focus on mental health support at 'Kiheneeth?' consultation launch

Health ·
Minister of Health, Family and Social Support Qila Ali has stated that greater attention must be given to providing timely assistance for prevention, early identification and solutions for mental health problems. She made the remarks during her speech at the inauguration ceremony of the 'Kiheneeth? Mental Health Consultation Meeting' held at the Meeruma Hotel in collaboration with the Mental Health Department and UNICEF. The consultations are being conducted under the slogan 'Mental Health Consultation - Prioritizing Safety, Changing the Course of Mental Health.' The Minister said the consultation provides an important opportunity to assess the current situation, identify challenges, and ensure safety from illness. She requested participants to work together strongly towards clear goals after broad discussion and sharing of experiences. Noting that mental health among children, adolescents, and youth is a national priority, she called for building a future where every child and youth can grow up and obtain education without mental health difficulties. She also stated that working together on this matter is the biggest desire of the current government. While progress has been made in strengthening mental health services, she said efforts by the health and education sectors, families, and communities remain important tasks within a robust system addressing the changing needs of youth.
