Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Health Abdullah Raafiu has described the work on the international-level swimming pool facility being built in the Maldives as an exemplary collaborative effort, and thanked Champa Hussein Afif for her support. Champa Hussein Afif, together with Minister of Sports Raafiu, inspected the swimming pool work on Thursday afternoon. The swimming pool is a project carried out in collaboration by Crowne Company, Maldives Aquatics and the Government of Maldives, together with World Aquatics, swimming's main organization. Speaking to PSM News, Minister Raafiu highlighted this and said it was something from which even other sports should take an example. The minister noted that the swimming pool work is being carried out with substantial support from a private entity. The minister expressed gratitude to Champa Hussein Afif for the cooperation and assistance provided by Crowne Company for the work. "It is a very great satisfaction for our sports that a private entity is helping with this work. That private entities are providing cooperation and assistance in using facilities like these is something for which our entire sports community is grateful. In designing this facility, Champa Hussein Afif and Crowne Company have been providing help and cooperation, and are extending very substantial assistance to complete this place as quickly as possible. Therefore, I thank Champa Hussein Afif on my own behalf and on behalf of the sports community," Minister Raafiu said. The minister said the swimming pool being built in Hulhumale Phase 1 is one of the best facilities that will be built in this region. He noted that, along with this facility, arrangements have also been made so that persons with disabilities can use it easily. According to the minister, bringing international competitions to the Maldives along with the swimming pool facility is a major goal of the government. The work on the swimming pool began last year. Maldives Aquatics stated that most of the work will be completed early this coming December.
