The Maldives National University (MNU) is reaching significant academic milestones through diligence and dedication, according to the Minister of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.
Speaking at the MNU graduation ceremony, Minister Shaheem addressed the new graduates on the profound purpose of education and the responsibilities that accompany academic achievement. He emphasized that the pursuit of knowledge is not merely for certification, but to foster critical thinking and a deeper understanding of justice.
Rooting his address in Islamic principles, the Minister highlighted that the Holy Qur'an repeatedly urges humanity to reflect and ponder. He noted that protecting the human intellect is one of the five highest objectives of Islamic Shari'ah, underscoring the sanctity of the mind and the importance of shielding it from harm.
Turning to professional development, Minister Shaheem offered practical guidance for those entering the workforce. He urged graduates to embrace patience and diligence, advising that starting at the entry-level of a career provides invaluable experience and builds the resilience necessary for long-term success.
The Minister also encouraged the graduates to maintain a lifelong bond with their alma mater, describing the university as an "academic fortress." He noted that today's graduates could become the nation's future leaders, including potential Presidents, Prime Ministers, or Ministers, and urged them to continue their professional journeys with hope and compassion.
Concluding his remarks, Minister Shaheem called on the class to face the inevitable challenges of life with courage and persistence. He reminded the graduates that the knowledge they have acquired serves as the foundational tool for constructing a just and successful future for both themselves and the Maldives.
