Ministry of Health Opens Applications for Riveli Award 2026

The Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare has officially opened applications for the Riveli Award 2026, a national initiative designed to honor persons with disabilities and the dedicated individuals and organizations that support them. Aligned with the government’s "Compassionate Society" policy and the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Provision of Financial Assistance Act, the award seeks to foster an inclusive environment across the Maldives. The initiative aims to reduce social discrimination, highlight the capabilities of people with disabilities, and elevate the standard of support services available nationwide. This year, the ministry will present awards across six distinct categories to ensure comprehensive recognition. These include categories for persons with disabilities, Maldivian citizens with disabilities who have brought international recognition to the country, and contributions within the education sector. Additionally, the awards will recognize private organizations, technical and individual support providers, and companies that have actively provided economic empowerment for people with disabilities. Beyond mere recognition, the Riveli Award is intended to raise awareness of disability rights and promote equal opportunities, encouraging independence and tangible progress for all citizens regardless of their physical or cognitive challenges. Interested applicants can obtain application forms from the Ministry of Health’s service counter, the official ministry website, or through Family and Children Service Centres located in the atolls. Completed forms can be submitted physically to the ministry or sent via email. The deadline for all submissions is Sunday, August 30, at 1:00 p.m.
