MMBC Extends Newspaper Re-registration Deadline by Three Months
Politics ·
The Maldives Media and Broadcasting Commission (MMBC) has extended the deadline for the re-registration of newspapers by three months. The original six-month period, which was set to expire on 28 October 2026, will now end on 28 January 2027 at 11:59 PM. The extension was announced after the commission decided to allow additional time for newspapers to comply with the re-registration requirement. Newspapers that fail to re-register will have their registration cancelled. Previously, newspapers were registered with the Youth Ministry, but responsibility was transferred to MMBC after its establishment.
