MNDF Begins Redevelopment of Bandeyrigoshee to Expand Housing for Servicemen and Police
Local News ·
The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has announced preparations to begin the redevelopment of Bandeyrigoshee, a facility used to provide temporary housing for servicemen and police. The project, which will be carried out in phases starting with Bandeyrigoshee 1, aims to accommodate a larger number of personnel during their service. The MNDF stated that the decision comes as part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's priority to improve welfare and living conditions for servicemen, who often spend long hours away from their families on national duty. The President had announced the project on Servicemen's Day this year. To minimise disruption, the redevelopment will be phased, with current residents moved to newly built apartments within the same facility upon completion. The Ministry of Defence and National Security, along with the MNDF, is overseeing the preparations and has engaged with current residents to address their concerns.
