MNDF Launches 74th Basic Training Course with 156 Recruits in Southern Command

The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has officially launched its 74th Basic Training Course, marking a new chapter for 156 recruits as they begin their journey toward military service. The program commenced with a formal inauguration ceremony held at the Southern Area Command. Brigadier General Dr. Hussain Ibrahim, Commanding Officer of the College of Defence and Security Studies, attended as the chief guest. In his address to the new intake, Brigadier General Ibrahim emphasized the mental and physical fortitude required for military life, urging recruits to remain steadfast and disciplined to successfully complete the rigorous training regimen. Beyond the recruits' perseverance, the Commanding Officer highlighted the critical responsibility of the training staff. He called upon instructors to maintain the highest standards of vigilance and care, ensuring that every phase of the training is conducted with strict adherence to the safety of the personnel. The ceremony featured the foundational rites of military entry: the recruits' oath and the instructors' pledge. Captain Mohamed Naif, the course's Chief Instructor, administered the oath to the trainees, while Major Namil Abdul Gafoor, the Company Commander, led the instructors in their professional pledge. This iteration of the Basic Training Course reflects a commitment to inclusivity and growth, with 24 women among the 156 recruits. The training is designed to instill the core values of the MNDF, preparing the participants for the diverse security challenges facing the archipelago. The event was attended by senior leadership from the Southern Area Command, including Commander Colonel Mohamed Jamshad, Deputy Commander Lieutenant Colonel Mohamed Nilaam, and Command Sergeant Major Abdulla Junaid, alongside other high-ranking MNDF personnel.
