MNDF Launches Nationwide Selection Drive for Fourth National Service Batch

The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has launched the recruitment and selection process for the fourth batch of the National Service Basic Training Programme. Running from August 9 to August 18, the drive specifically targets candidates who were unable to secure a position during the third batch's application window. Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Haleem confirmed that selection activities are currently being conducted across Male’ and the atolls. To ensure a comprehensive reach, the MNDF has deployed six specialized teams across 13 regions. Candidates are undergoing a rigorous series of assessments, including aptitude tests, interviews, physical fitness evaluations, swimming tests, and comprehensive health screenings. Lieutenant Colonel Haleem expressed gratitude toward local councils and government institutions, noting that their seamless coordination has been vital to the rollout of the selection process across the archipelago. Initiated under the directive of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, the National Service Programme is designed to foster a responsible, faith-driven generation of youth. The curriculum focuses on holistic development, blending moral and behavioral training with practical life-saving skills. Participants receive instruction in first aid, firefighting, self-defense, and core military discipline. Graduates of the program receive several professional credentials, including a Certificate of Completion for National Service Initial Training and a Level 3 Certificate in Civic Education and Leadership. They also earn certifications as community volunteer firefighters and basic first aid providers, alongside a certificate from the Peer Education Training Programme. The program has already seen significant momentum, with the first two batches having completed their basic training. The third batch is currently active, consisting of 352 cadets—288 men and 64 women—hailing from 112 different islands, reflecting the initiative's commitment to national inclusivity.
