MNDF Seizes Three Foreign Fishing Boats Operating Illegally in Maldives Waters

The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has seized three foreign fishing boats that were operating illegally in the Maldives' special economic zone. MNDF said on April 13 that the three fishing boats were seized in a special operation conducted jointly with the Coast Guard and Air Corps. During the operation, the three boats were brought under Coast Guard control while operating 170 nautical miles west of Ari Atoll at night, MNDF said. MNDF said efforts are now underway to bring the boats to Malé.
