The Maldives National University (MNU) has successfully passed a mid-cycle review, securing an extension for its International Quality Accreditation (IQA) until October 2028. The accreditation, awarded by the UK's independent Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA), validates the university's commitment to maintaining international standards in education and research. Vice Chancellor Dr. Aishath Shehenaz Adam, speaking at a press conference, stated that quality assurance is the institution's foremost priority. She emphasized that the accreditation, a key goal of MNU's Strategic Plan 2026–2030, supports the university's mission to foster meaningful national development through education. "For teaching, learning and research across all fields, the biggest priority at MNU is quality assurance," Dr. Shehenaz said. "The accreditation received from QAA supports our efforts to strengthen quality improvements and develop individuals who contribute meaningfully to national progress." She added that the university's long-term vision extends beyond academic achievement, aiming to equip students with essential skills, values, and competencies. MNU first received the five-year IQA accreditation in 2023, and the successful review marks significant progress toward its strategic goals. The university has committed to continuing its efforts to uphold international standards, deliver quality education, and strengthen its position both within the Maldives and globally.
