Mohamed Firuzul Appointed Managing Director of Maldives Hajj Corporation

World ·
The Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) has appointed Mohamed Firuzul Abdullah Khaleel as the new board member and Managing Director of the Maldives Hajj Corporation. The appointment, which took effect on Tuesday, fills a critical leadership vacancy within the state-owned enterprise. Firuzul steps into the role following the departure of Mohamed Shakeel, who recently transitioned to a position as a member of the Elections Commission. As the regulatory body overseeing state-owned enterprises, the PCB manages these leadership transitions to ensure the continuity of essential public services. Firuzul brings a specialized academic and professional background to the corporation. He holds a degree in Shari'ah and Law from the prestigious Al-Azhar University in Egypt, providing him with the legal and religious scholarship necessary to oversee the complex logistics and spiritual requirements of the Hajj pilgrimage. Prior to this appointment, Firuzul held high-level roles within the President's Office. He most recently served as the Undersecretary for Presidential Affairs. His experience also includes a tenure as the Undersecretary for Public Policy, where he was instrumental in the formulation of government policies. His transition from the President's Office to the Hajj Corporation signals a move toward integrating policy expertise with the operational management of the state's pilgrimage services, ensuring that the needs of Maldivian pilgrims are met through efficient governance.
