Mohamed Saeed Appointed as Ameerul Hajj for 2026 Pilgrimage

Politics ·
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has appointed Mohamed Saeed, the Minister of Economic Development, Transport and Trade, as the Ameerul Hajj for 2026. The Ameerul Hajj serves as the official head of the Maldivian delegation, overseeing the affairs of pilgrims during their spiritual journey to Saudi Arabia. Following the established national tradition, the President nominates the head of Hajj affairs annually to ensure that the religious and logistical needs of the delegation are met with precision and leadership. This announcement comes as the final group of Maldivian pilgrims has now departed for Saudi Arabia. The delegation traveled via four separate flights, utilizing a combination of Maldivian and Saudi Arabian airlines to transport the worshippers to the holy sites. The Saudi Arabian government maintains a fixed quota of 1,000 pilgrims for the Maldives each year. To manage this capacity and ensure a seamless experience, the Maldives Hajj Mission and the Maldives Hajj Corporation Limited collaborate closely on all operational arrangements, including transportation, accommodation, and health services for the worshippers.
