The mosque constructed in Bangladesh in honor of the late Sheikh Ibrahim Fareed was officially inaugurated on Friday. The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Fareed’s two sons, Abdulla Fareed and Abdul Rahman Fareed, along with senior officials from Khidhumaiy’s partner organization, the Al-Manaahil Foundation, and local residents. Sheikh Fareed, a revered figure in the Maldives, passed away suddenly on June 9, 2023, while at an airport in Malaysia. His death was deeply mourned by the Maldivian community. Khidhumaiy, the NGO where Sheikh Fareed served, announced plans to build a mosque in Bangladesh as a tribute to his contributions. Funded by generous donations from the Maldivian public, the mosque can accommodate over 300 worshippers at a time. Khidhumaiy also revealed plans to construct a larger mosque in Hulhumale’ Phase III, Maldives, capable of accommodating 2,500 worshippers, as a lasting memorial to Sheikh Fareed’s legacy.
