H. Abdul Ghafoor Mosa (Gapo), the Member of Parliament for Hanimadhoo constituency, has stated that the country's education system should not be politicised and that education sector workers are not political figures. His remarks came during the initial debate on the Bill to Amend the Education Law, presented by Minister Anara Naheem on behalf of the government at Wednesday's sitting of the People's Majlis. MP Abdul Ghafoor stressed that the education system must be viewed according to today's standards and that this concerns all students in the country. He noted that, just as prominent individuals come from families of different backgrounds and levels, children also come from diverse circumstances, and he urged proper research before implementing such changes. He also questioned what measures are taken for students who achieve high grades such as eight, nine, ten, or higher, saying that a nation cannot progress without producing excellent educated students. He reiterated, "We should not politicize the education system. Education professionals are not political figures," and called for the bill to be studied further and resubmitted to the Majlis.
