During the initial debate on the government's bill to amend the Education Act (Law Number 24/2020), Hori Fushi constituency member Ali Moosa expressed full support for the amendments, describing them as thoroughly studied and presented after comprehensive consideration by President Dr. Muhammad Muizzu's government. He emphasized that the bill contains no rigid ideology in any of its articles and is an important step to facilitate home schooling for children who require special assistance. He noted that Article 8 outlines the principles and control mechanisms of home schooling, and that Article 18 includes pre-school education and baby nursery within the official school system, which was previously not the case. The bill was submitted by Dr. Anara Naheem, MP for Hura constituency, on behalf of the government. Ali Moosa also addressed issues in the education sector, criticizing the previous MDP government's decision to cancel teachers' overtime pay and merge it into salaries, calling it the most unjust act in recent history. He urged the Pay Commission to restore overtime pay and improve teacher salaries. He also mentioned that the government has begun offering special incentives to attract individuals to the teaching field and is implementing initiatives such as the 'Cool School Project' to improve the school system.
