MP Seeks Clarity from President on Binnveriyaa Land Sale in Male'
Politics ·
North Galolhu MP Mohamed Ibrahim (Kudu) has written to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu seeking clarification on whether recipients of land under the previous administration’s Binnveriyaa scheme can transfer or sell land they already own in Male'. In his letter, Kudu highlighted concerns over delays in the handover of plots allocated under the scheme in Hulhumale', Gulhifalhu, and Giraavaru, which have caused growing anxiety among recipients. The MP also referenced President Muizzu’s campaign remarks and raised several questions, including whether Binnveriyaa recipients can sell or transfer their Male' land and under what conditions. Kudu further sought updates on Muizzu’s pledge to remove the requirement for individuals holding 600 square feet or less to vacate their land. The Binnveriyaa scheme, initiated under former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, allocated land in Hulhumale' Phase II, Gulhifalhu, and the Giraavaru lagoon. Despite completed dredging in some areas, basic services like water, electricity, and roads remain undeveloped, preventing recipients from starting construction on their plots.
